Garden
Design

Urban Earth have a dedicated in-house team of Garden Designers who do just this. We provide you with designs that work for you, the way you live and provide peace of mind knowing that all the elements of your garden work in harmony and will grow and develop as the years go by.

Our professional garden design service takes you from first ideas to the completion of your new garden.

The Design
Process

The creative process of garden design involves thought, time and attention to detail. We will work with you to create a garden that can be enjoyed all year round, with consideration being given to a garden’s natural evolution and seasonal changes. Being out in nature throughout the seasons in one’s own bespoke environment will undoubtedly benefit your health and wellbeing.

Introductory Meeting

This is the opportunity for us to discuss your ideas, so that we can get a feel for your ideal garden and how you would like to spend your time here throughout the year. We also outline the design process and how we will work with you to bring all the elements of your garden or landscape project to life, culminating in a Design Fee Proposal.

Site Survey & Analysis:

To assess your garden’s position, aspect, and the existing site features. If necessary, a soil analysis will be carried out. Dimensions and levels may be measured to enable a scaled drawing to be produced. Depending on the size or complexity of the project, further surveys may need to be undertaken, including a detailed topographical survey where required.

Creating A Plan

From the information gathered from our consultation and site survey meeting we will produce an initial draft Sketch Plan. Depending on the brief we may be able to offer you some different options to choose from.

This is an outline proposal of the new design and forms the basis of a discussion to enable a detailed design to be produced.

Garden & Landscape

This is a computer-generated plan or 3D design of the garden. It shows the layout of the hard or soft landscaping and all the key features of the design.

We can also produce:

  • Design specification document which details dimensions and materials.
  • Mood board with images to help bring your garden to life.
  • Planting plan which includes recommended plants, and a scaled planting position within your garden.
  • Construction drawings: required for hard landscaping or special elements eg: walls; fencing; gates; seating; water features; etc. (An additional fee may be charged for these elements).
  • Drawings to discharge planning conditions.

Bringing It To Life

Having meticulously planned and scheduled your project from the finalised design we will meet with you upon commencement of the works. We will assign a manager to your project with their team for the duration of the project.

Periodically thereafter we will visit site to discuss progress at key stages of your project to ensure that the detailed drawings are being followed in our usual consummate manner by our teams on the ground.

We pride ourselves on attention to detail, from the first spade into the ground to the last screw being fixed in place or the final wash-down of the site. We are Artisans, gentlemanly craftsmen, respecting your home, treating you and your garden with the upmost regard, reverence and respect, creating beautiful bespoke projects.

Garden Maintenance Aftercare Service Programme

As part of our commitment to you and your garden we would be delighted to offer you our bespoke garden maintenance service. This service is designed to ensure that the garden area that we have helped to create stays true to our high standards and is maintained to look beautiful all year round, locking-in that freshly finished look and feel throughout the yearly seasons and for many years. Henceforth, helping your investment blossom and grow symbiotically with nature as it was designed to do, whilst enriching your own experience.

Your garden’s natural evolutionary transformation continues after we have left, we can however help you with its ongoing development in the years to come in an advisory and consultancy capacity should you wish to seek help with your garden and its ongoing maintenance in anyway.

(There would be an additional fee for this service, specific to your requirements).

DESIGNERS
  • Martin
  • Jacob

Senior Landscape Designer

Martin has a degree and post-graduate diploma in Landscape Architecture and was inspired to be a landscape designer after visiting the beautiful gardens of Japan, while travelling around the world and working in Australia and Hong Kong.

He is interested in the contrast between the formal and naturalistic approach to garden design and creating varied planting areas that will look good and different throughout the year. Think swathes of tall grasses and perennials with beautiful plants that will sway in the breeze, complimenting and contrasting with the formal structure of the garden boundaries, shrubs, trees and the surrounding landscape. He also likes to incorporate architectural, sculptural, artistic, water, play, or relaxation elements; to create lovely gardens that will stimulate the senses, provide more interest, and get the most out of our valuable private outdoor spaces.

Garden Designer

Jacob is our Junior Garden Designer, having been awarded a Distinction from the Oxford College of Garden Design, their Principal, Duncan Heather, said that “Jacob has excelled on this course. It has been a real pleasure to watch his growth in real time. From a competent landscape contractor, to a highly gifted artist and designer. A personable young man, who is producing professional work of an extremely high calibre. I wish him every success for the future.”

Prior to having graduated with a 2.1 in Digital Games at Falmouth University, throughout his degree course Jacob worked with Urban Earth during Summer and Easter breaks and it was during this time his interest in landscaping and garden design began to blossom.

As a company we could have easily recruited a fully qualified Garden Designer, however we like to grow and develop our own brand of people; from our experience, the benefits of having worked as a landscaper this first-hand experience is invaluable when it comes to the practical implications of design.

The Fees

Once we have met with you, discussed you requirements we will be able to give you an idea of the project budget.

After we have produced a detailed design of your garden or landscape we can then provide you with a breakdown of the costs involved in constructing your garden, the duration of your project and potential start date.

Our Garden maintenance aftercare service programme is available to all customers, this will be an additional fee specific to your requirements.
