From the onset, Phil and his team designed, discussed and produced an amazing social setting at CTCRM. A large unused area was transformed into a dynamic yet comfortable dining and social area, complete with plants, raised borders, overhead cover, paving and metal screens. A truly professional service.

Large Scale commercial landscape design and installation by us for the Royal Marines headquarters in Lympstone, Devon
The British armed forces are trying to help focus on the softer side of Warfare and wellbeing of it’s personnel by trying to give more relaxing areas for rest and relaxation in nice surroundings.
This was an old tired area which we designed alongside one of the Majors + Commandant of CTCRM, we made different areas for seating, with a side section of this under a glass veranda that could be used all year round in all weathers, whilst also trying to split these areas up into small rooms via the use of Corten steel panels with natural and floral designs to evoke relaxation, group feel (Unity), yet also inclusion of all enjoying these areas on a larger scale, as the panels were not solid and how they were spaced and set out achieved this. We used natural stone for all hard standing in a nice light colour to brighten up the area, alongside using Oak sleeper for raised flower beds to give an enclosed feel when seating, dressed with locally sourced small granite gravel (as the main parade ground has a Dartmoor style installation of large pieces of Granite made to look like a Dartmoor tor with the names of the fallen in battle written on the stones and we also wanted to create a unity with this in a respectful manner) for low maintenance, yet also giving a connection with the Exe estuary in the back ground of this installation and hopefully creating a kindred feel between the installation and its wider environment.
A central veranda style walkway with access to the back of the installation and other rooms in this area for military use.
Sunk in Oak sleeper bench seats to the far-left hand side and enclosed end of the landscaping scheme for relaxing, enjoying the views and ambience of the space, individually or collectively.
Full planting plan designed and installed by us, which incorporated some of the Duke of Edinburgh’s favourite plants and trees, as Prince Philip was the Captain-General of the Royal marines & was heavily involved with the RHS throughout his time, for which we have tried to emulate and respect considering the windy, coastal locations these plants will have to live and flourish in, alongside all of those people that get to interact and use this area we most sincerely hope.
